Maria Nardone, 82, of Stony Point, NY passed away on Monday, Dec 15th after a short illness, while surrounded by her family. 

Maria was born in Queens, NY to Charlie and Helen Cottone on May 26th, 1943.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Julianne Riggio, Louise Pellegrino and Nick Cottone.

She is survived by her husband, Freddy and her children and their families:  Chris and Carin Nardone, Tina Duncan and Bob Blumenfeld, Charlie and Carla Nardone, Doug and Gail Nguyen and John and Mary Nardone. She also leaves behind 16 cherished grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Maria was the family matriarch that always brought everyone together.  She took joy in cooking for the family, and even in her later years, she could feed a four-generation army of nieces, nephews, children and grandchildren.  

In her younger years, she loved to coach cheerleading.  For almost 20 years, she was a mainstay of the North Rockland Midget Football Cheerleading organization and coached a generation of young girls and women in the sport.

A memorial of her life will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 on Sunday, December 21st at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home on North Central Highway in Garnerville, NY.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Monday, December 22nd at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church on Cinder Road in Garnerville, NY.   Burial will follow at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery at 36 West Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY.
