With heavy hearts, we remember and celebrate the life of Cynthia, a beloved mother, sister, and friend whose love and light touched countless lives. She was the devoted mother of Felipe and Evelyn, whom she loved fiercely and without condition, and who remained the center of her world through every chapter of her life. Her loving parents were her Father Hugo Leyva, and Mother Rafaela Alvarez. Along with her Brother Ernesto Peraza, and Sisters Jazmin Amy Peraza, Maria Alvarez, and Leticia Alvarez.

Cynthia lived her life to the fullest, embracing moments of joy, laughter, and connection whenever she could. She had a generous heart and a welcoming spirit, making friends wherever she went and treating everyone she met with warmth and kindness. To know Cynthia was to feel seen, accepted, and loved.

Throughout her life, Cynthia faced a courageous and deeply human battle with addiction. It was a struggle that challenged her, but it never defined her. Even in her most difficult moments, her compassion, her love for her children, and her desire to care for others remained strong. Her journey reflected resilience, vulnerability, and the quiet strength found in continuing to hope.

As a mother, Cynthia’s love for Felipe and Evelyn was unwavering and profound — a love that will continue to guide and surround them. As a sister, she offered loyalty and understanding. As a friend, she was kind, loyal, and always ready to listen or lend support.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, Cynthia’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the love she shared, and the memories held close by those who loved her. May her story remind us that addiction is not a moral failing, but a call for compassion — and that healing, understanding, and hope are always possible when love leads the way.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 1-5pm at Healey Mortuary.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
