Donald Kubitschek, age 92, of Mountain Home, Idaho, passed away on December 11, 2025, of natural causes.

Don was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Dr. Paul Kubitschek and Louise Matthews.

After graduating from high school, Don joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served during the Korean War. Don loved the Corps, and during this time he met Dorla D. Bennick. They married and had four children: Chris, Tim, Tony, and Patty.

Don and Dorla lived in Mountain Home from 1962 to 1972. During this time, Don was a teacher and coach at Mountain Home Junior High School, where he was affectionately known as “Coach K.” Don loved living in Mountain Home and fully embraced the outdoors through hunting and fishing. He was also an avid golfer and was involved in the construction of the original Mountain Home Golf Course.

In 1972, Don and his family moved to Boise, where he began working for the Boise State Athletic Department as the Director of the Bronco Athletic Association.

Don returned to Mountain Home in the late 1970s, and during this time he met and married Carolyn Beach on August 15, 1979. They met at Ellen Wetherell’s wedding reception, and it was love at first sight.

Don and Carolyn enjoyed traveling together, especially to the Oregon Coast near Lincoln City and Yachats, where they stayed at the Dobson Ranch Inn. From 2000 to 2020, they spent their winters “snow birding” in Mesa, Arizona—years they truly loved. Tailgating at Boise State football games and lunches with friends at the Mountain Home Golf Course were also among their favorite activities.

Don was preceded in death by his son, Chris; his wife, Carolyn; his brothers, Paul Jr., Howard, and Robert; and his sister, Louise.

He is survived by his sons, Tim and Tony; his daughter, Patty; and Carolyn’s grandchildren, Aaron and Kristen.

A special thank you is extended to Edgewood Assisted Living in Eagle, Idaho, and All Care Hospice for the excellent care they provided during the last two years of Don’s life.

At Don’s request, there will be no services.

We Entrusted Donald Kubitschek's Care To

Rost Funeral Home

As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
