With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our dearly loved mother, Jollene Maree Thomssen, on December 11, 2025, at the age of 90. Born December 2, 1935, in Sterling, Colorado. Jollene dedicated her life to her family, embodying a strong work ethic and endless generosity. Married for 50 years to Eugene, (Geno), until his passing on March 25, 2007.
Jollene was a master cook in the kitchen and provided many wonderful meals. She loved Thanksgiving and preparing the turkey and stuffing her dad’s way! Christmas was another favorite of mom’s, creating elaborate baskets with all her many varieties of cookies and her famous fudge for neighbors, friends, and co-workers.
Jollene enjoyed solving challenging crossword puzzles that stumped most people. She loved the beach and sunshine; her favorite was Imperial Beach in California where we created many loving memories. She also enjoyed feeding the neighborhood squirrels and birds; we are surprised we never had a pet squirrel. Jollene was a devoted Bronco’s football fan, cheering or yelling at the TV.
Jollene spent most of her working career as a legal secretary with two major law firms – she loved the law, and we all thought she should have been an actual lawyer. She fully retired at the young age of 80, she truly enjoyed working, and developed many special friendships through work.
Jollene is survived by her 3 children; Jodi Skaar (husband Steve), Eric Thomssen (longtime girlfriend Wanda), and Kristie Bruntz (husband Tim), along with 2 grandchildren; Patrick Johnson (wife Buffy) and Christopher Johnson (wife Brittany). Also blessed with 4 great-grandchildren; Kaelin, Kendall, Eli, and Emery. Survived by sister Dianne Budin (husband Rudy).
There will be an informal gathering of family and friends to celebrate Jollene’s life, and you are invited to attend. This will be held on January 3rd at Englewood Eagle’s FOE, 3790 S Jason Street, Englewood 80110 from 1:00 – 3:00; light refreshments will be provided.
Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us everyday.
