Mr. Harry E. Barker, 71, of Fort Plain, died December 18, 2025 at his home after a long illness.
He was born February 23, 1954 in Amsterdam, the son of Dewayne and Lucille Hayes Barker. Harry was a graduate of the Johnstown High School class of 1972. He was first employed by the Town of Mohawk and later he worked for the Tryon School in the Town of Johnstown for the State of New York as a Maintenance Mechanic until retiring in 2013.
Harry enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting and raising animals.
He was a member of several Moose Lodges in the area.
Harry is survived by his mother, Lucille Hayes of Johnstown, two sons, Joshua Barker and his wife Lisa of Ephratah and John Barker of Gloversville, his daughter, Emily Barker and her fiancée Alec Rivera of Ephratah, three brothers, John Barker of Johnstown, Mike Barker of Florida and Steve Barker of Fonda, his sister, Judi Hale of Johnstown, and four grandchildren, Jeramiah, Jena, Jake and Alice, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Harry was predeceased by his father Dewayne Baker, two brothers, Joe Barker and Gary Barker and two sisters, Janet Duesler and Lois Bradt.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats in Fonda.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Innovative Renal Care, Gloversville Dialysis Center, 46 Easterly St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
