James Howard Byrd, age 83 of Kingsport, TN, entered into eternal life on Friday, December 19, 2025.  James was born on March 2, 1942, in Rogersville, TN to JD and Nola Byrd.  James bravely served in the United States Army during Vietnam, and he retired from Eastman after many years of dedicated service.

James loved his family and in his spare time he enjoyed playing golf and watching UT football.  He will be dearly missed by all those who love him.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Lewis Byrd.  Those left to cherish James’ memory are his son, Jason Byrd and wife, Susie; daughter, Karen Byrd; four grandchildren, Avery Byrd, Addison Byrd, Chesney Eberle and husband, Robert, and Brayden Riner; special friend, Charlie Williams; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

There will be a private military graveside service at Mount Home National Cemetery.  American Legion Post # 2/365 will be providing military honors.
