Patricia Eleanor Davenport was born July 7, 1952, at Mound Park Hospital (Bayfront) in St. Petersburg, FL. Her mother was Eleanor Staton Davenport and father was William F. Davenport, Jr. She was baptized in First Presbyterian Church of St Petersburg, FL. Patricia attended Bay Vista, Baypoint, Lakewood High School and graduated from Berkeley Preparatory School in 1970 (Tampa). She graduated from Sophie Newcomb College at Tulane with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1974 (New Orleans), followed by a Juris Doctorate degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1976 (Florida.)

Advocacy on the behalf of others has been a continuous theme throughout Patricia’s career, first as an attorney in both the private sector focusing on the areas of Probate and Commerce. At the State governmental level Patricia served as a Florida Assistant Attorney General under Florida Attorney General Robert Butterworth in the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Commerce, both Tallahassee and Tampa. Following her later law career in private practice, Patricia served in the non-profit sector working with families through the Salvation Army, and later, with a private educational institution focused on youth with special learning needs.

Travel was an important part of Patricia’s life, particularly travel to Ireland and Great Britain. Her adventurous spirit took her to many foreign destinations including trips to Scandinavia, France, South Africa, and Israel. Closer to home in Florida, Patricia deeply loved being near the coastline and spent almost every day with one of her many dogs over the years walking the beaches on both coasts scouting for shells and other treasures of the sea. She was an officer of Alpha Delta Pi (ADP) for years and active with the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Her love of the arts drew her to museums and performances both at home and throughout her travels and she collected a broad array of artwork and antiques. Highly creative, Patricia was musically talented, playing piano, guitar, and the dulcimer, and she was gifted with a beautiful singing voice.

Active in the Episcopal Church throughout her adult life, faith was important to Patricia, serving on the vestry and participating in scholarly educational programs, she was active with the Seekers group. A love for nature and all of creation, Patricia lived each of her days fully. She is survived by her brother, Michael W. Davenport and sister, Margaret Davenport Brommelsiek, (Rolf.)

We wish to thank the staff at Arden Courts in Largo and Touching Hearts At Home for their special care and compassion for Patricia during this last year.
