Barbara Lynn Hobbs Sanders, age 80 of Kingsport, TN passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 21, 2025, after a brief illness. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Born May 5, 1945, in Kingsport, TN to John Ballard (J.B.) Hobbs and Leota Marie Jones Hobbs. She was a graduate of Lynn View High School, Class of 1963. Barbara was a retired beautician. Her passion was watching her grandkids play ball, cross-stitch and reading.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Guye J. Sanders, parents, John Ballard (J.B.) Hobbs and Leota Marie Jones Hobbs, sisters, Janie Hobbs Puckett and Doris Hobbs Puckett, brother John Edward (J.E.) Hobbs. Those left to cherish her memory are son, Timothy M. Sanders and life-partner Jenny Aldrich; daughter Sherri R. Sanders Sherman and husband Scott; two grandchildren, Jason and Abbygail Sherman; sister, Kathy Hobbs Arnold and husband Wes; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the caregivers who helped us care for Barbara in her time of need, Lynn, Jo, Brenda and Tenea.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your local animal shelter or Scott County Historical Society.

The family will receive friends at Carter-Trent / Scott County Funeral Home on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Hodges officiating. A graveside will follow at Holston View Cemetery with Barbara’s family and friends serving as pallbearers.
