Delwin Kay Bond passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on May 18, 1936, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Thomas Lloyd Bond and Fay Agnes Nichols.
He was raised in a loving home with one sister and two brothers in Phoenix and graduated from West High School, Phoenix College, Arizona State University, and The American Institute of Foreign Trade (Thunderbird).
Delwin married Sheila Black in the Mesa, Arizona, temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 1, 1960, and they welcomed four children. The couple celebrated their 65th anniversary earlier this year, surrounded by their extended family.
Delwin was a lifelong member of the church and was baptized by his grandfather, Charles Marlow Bond, in the Mesa temple at age 8. He served 2.5 years in the German-speaking Swiss-Austrian mission and senior missions with his wife to Winnipeg, Canada, and Mesa’s Family History Center. Throughout his life he served in many different callings including several high councils and bishoprics, serving as Bishop of the Phoenix Ninth Ward for four years in the late 1970s.
He worked most of his career in international banking for Valley National Bank of Arizona, successfully managing various financial portfolios and traveling regularly to multiple countries throughout Asia and Europe.
Delwin is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Norman and Jerry. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, his sister, Joanne Peterson, son Thomas Marlow (Vicki Phillips), and daughters Elizabeth (Wade Denman), Stephanie (Greg Phair), and Allison (Chris Jones), 19 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren and counting.
A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1430 N. Grand, Mesa, AZ, with a funeral service following at 11 a.m.
