Minh Xuan Binh Nguyen was born on January 1st, 1990. Her first name, “Binh Minh,” means “dawn” in Vietnamese. She graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 2013, earned a Master of Science in Public Health at UCLA in 2015, and completed her PhD in Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021.

She served as a lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology at the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Hanoi Medical University, Vietnam, and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC, USA.

Throughout her education and training, Minh received numerous prestigious and highly selective honors and awards, including First Prize in the Vietnam National Contest for Young Researchers in Medicine and Health (2012), the UNC Leadership Development Scholars Program, and the UNC Royster Five-Year Fellowship. Since 2018, she had been involved in numerous major research studies and served as the principal investigator for several large-scale projects. She was also the author of many scientific publications, both nationally and internationally.

Minh married Dr. Linh Đinh in 2015. They had two daughters, Mai Chi (b. 2015) and Thuỳ An (b. 2018), and one son, Huỳnh Lâm (b. 2021).

She enjoyed cooking, playing the piano, practicing yoga, going to the gym, and reading. Her favorite books included To Kill a Mockingbird, the works of Jane Austen, and novels by Colleen Hoover. Another of Minh’s great passions was running; she participated in many marathons and half marathons and made significant contributions to the running community in Hanoi.

Minh is survived by her husband, their three children, her two younger sisters, and her beloved parents, who will dearly miss her.
