David W. Fontanella, 76, of Galway, NY passed away peacefully with his family at his side on December 19, 2025. He was born in Buffalo, NY to the late John and Ethel (Miller) Fontanella on July 24, 1949.
After high school, David attended the apprentice program at General Electric to learn tool and die making. He worked for General Electric for many years, from which he retired. David lived in Burnt Hills for most of his early life before moving to Galway, where he built a beautiful home, a labor of love over four decades, with his beloved wife Eileen. David was a collector of many things, from antique cars to collectibles, all with a unique story to tell. David was a great conversationalist - he could talk to anyone about a vast variety of subjects and remain engaged. Above all, David's family will remember him a selfless husband, stepfather, grandfather, and friend. He will be sorely missed.
David is survived by his wife Eileen (Bubela) Fontanella at home; stepson Ryan Stanzel (Stefanie) of Woodbury, Minnesota; and granddaughter Emilia of Woodbury, Minnesota. He was predeceased by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David's name may be made to the Community Hospice or to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.
The family has chosen to remember David's life privately at this time. The family will be planning a get together celebration of life for summer of 2026.
