Obituary for George David Friedman

George David Friedman, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, in Centralia, Washington, at the age of 79. He was born on March 24, 1946, in Huntington, Indiana, the son of Joseph and Ethel Friedman.

George's lifelong commitment to his family and community was evident in everything he did. He married his beloved wife, Joanne (Hebert) Friedman, on June 21, 1969, in Corvallis, Oregon. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and warmth. As a devoted father to his son, Chris Friedman, and his wife, Andrea, George took great joy in being a grandfather to his precious granddaughter, Ainsley. He was a steadfast source of support and guidance, always ready to share a smile or lend a helping hand.

George was a proud veteran who served four years in the Air Force, completing two tours in Vietnam as a Power Production Specialist. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career; he worked as a Mechanical Foreman at the Centralia Steam Plant, dedicating many years to his profession with diligence and care.

Education was important to George; he graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1964. His faith also played a significant role in his life as a devoted member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, and the VFW, and the Knights of Columbus.

George enjoyed a variety of interests that enriched his life, including gardening, railroading, trains, flowers, jigsaw puzzles, and card games such as Cribbage. He was known for his caring and giving nature, always willing to help those around him. His personality radiated happiness, and he was centered on his family, who meant the world to him.

George leaves behind his loving wife, Joanne, his son Chris, and his wife Andrea; his cherished granddaughter, Ainsley; his sister-in-law Carol Friedman; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ethel Friedman, his sister Ann Tuttle, and his brother Andy Friedman.

A Funeral Mass will be held in George's honor on January 16, 2026, at 11:00 am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, located at 123 SW 6th Street, Chehalis, WA.

Following the Mass, there will be a PRIVATE Family Internment at Claquato Cemetery.

As we remember George, let us celebrate a life filled with love, devotion, and kindness. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
