Mohammad “Parviz” Shafi Mir, age 89 of Church Hill, TN was taken up to eternal Heaven on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.  Parviz was born on July 22, 1936, in Shiraz, Iran to Mohamed Reza and Shamsolhaya-Mir.  Parviz came to the United States in 1960, where he pursued and achieved his education from ETSU.  He received his BS in electrical engineering in 1967, and he retired from Northwestern Railroad after 31 years of dedicated service.

Parviz loved helping people, and he had a true servant’s heart.  Coming from Iran to the United States, he knew the challenges of attaining citizenship and he was always willing to help his family and friends when they too came to the United States.  He was always willing to help, and he never asked for anything in return.  Parviz was very outgoing, and he never met a stranger.  He loved spending time with his family, as his quiver was full.  He enjoyed visiting different botanical gardens and viewing all styles of architecture.  Parviz was known for fixing things and tinkering around, and as he was a self-proclaimed handyman; as he would proclaim, “I am a jack of all trades, master of none.”

Parviz was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shahin Mir; one brother, Hamid Mir; and one sister, Mehrandokht Mir.

Those left to cherish his memory are his best friend and mother of his children, Carolyn Mir; two sons, Perry Mir and his wife, Debra, and Pamon and his wife, Jennifer; seven grandchildren, Milana N. Mir, Maeanna E. Mir, Arman J. Mir, Braden Mir, Mihya Mir, Drew Shields, and Tyler Shields; brother, Dr. Ali Mir and his wife, Gitta; sister, Pouron Senaati and her husband, Dr. Habib Senaati; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

There will be an entombment service held at Happy Valley Memorial Park in the Mausoleum of Faith on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11:00 am with Brother David Dotson officiating.  Parviz’s family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.  Those wishing to attend the entombment service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.

Those wishing to send flowers, please have the flowers delivered to Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport, TN.
