Vivian was born on December 6, 1931, to Chester and Dorelda Chapman in Esmond, SD. The family moved to Eagle, ID when she was 3 years old and then to Meridian, ID when she was 14. Vivian started attending the Meridian Church of the Nazarene, now Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene when she was 3 and attended there faithfully her entire life.
Vivian graduated from Meridian High School in June 1949 and on December 27th of that year married Burl Pipkin. They were married 64 years before Burl passed away. They had three children: Marian, Chet and Roger. After the kids were in school, Vivian went to work for the Idaho Potato Commission and retired after 25 years.
Burl and Vivian were very active in church activities and loved traveling and vacationing with many of their friends. But what Vivian loved most was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She made sure family got together on holidays and for any other occasions she could come up with.
Vivian loved getting together with friends and, or family for: coffee, breakfast, dinner or dessert at the drop of a hat. She was well known at several Meridian restaurants which she frequented with daughter Marian, son Chet and good friend Joyce Brewer. She also loved spending time playing games such as pinochle, cribbage, hand and foot, and dominos and when playing she was merciless. Every 4 to 6 weeks Marian, grandson Ronnie and she would play games while waiting for bread to rise or bake. She baked bread for her family her entire adult life. She and her mother were known for their baking skills at church functions for their pies, bread and rolls. They were always the first items to go.
Vivian recently told one of the pastors at Valley Shepherd that she wanted to go see Jesus and Burl. He told her he was glad she listed them in that order. That is exactly what she did at 6:30 on Saturday morning, the 13th of December. Congratulations on your heavenly reunion Vivian. You are already missed.
The family would like to especially thank Terry Brown and Terry’s Helping Hands and Enhabit Hospice for the excellent care of Vivian for her last few weeks.
Celebration of life honoring Vivian will be held at Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, 150 W Maestra, Meridian, ID, 83642, at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Vivian is survived by daughter, Marian (Ron) Warren; Son Chet (Suzi) Pipkin; and Son Roger (Sherrie) Pipkin. Also, 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl; parents, Chester and Dorelda Chapman; sister Marilyn Deines; and great-great-grandson Koda Vega.

Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
