Betty "Dood" Louise Blackburn, 90, of Kernersville passed away on December 24, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born in Grayson County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Anna (Myers) Anders and wife of the late Luther "Ronnie" Blackburn.
She was always a people-person and anyone that she ever met was greeted with a smile. Her hobbies included shopping, dancing, and listening to bluegrass music. She especially loved spoiling her grandkids. She loved riding around sight-seeing and visiting the mountains when the leaves would change each year. She was an excellent cook and spent a lot of time perfecting her recipes to share with her family. Tending to her yard and flowers was something that Betty enjoyed for many years as well.
Betty is survived by her children, Michael Ballard (Debbie) and Rhonda Moffitt (Tommy); her grandchildren, Brandy Medlin (Buddy), Chris Medlin (Megan), Zach Moffitt (Wendy), Daniel Moffitt (Courtney), and Michaela Wells (Jimmy); her great-grandchildren, Sonny, Presley, Charlotte, Mary Grace, Levi, Karleigh, Nova, Jensen, Easton, and Tripp; her brother, Kyle Anders; and her sister-in-law, Lola Anders.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Anders and Claude Anders; and her nephew, Ronnie Anders. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her little doggie, Casper, whom she cared for deeply.
The family will receive friends at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service, 213 W. Mountain St, Kernersville NC 27284 on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 12:00PM - 1:00PM. Funeral services will follow beginning at 1:00PM with Pastor Bruce Freeman officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville.
