Roberta “Bobby” Flint, 82, of Gloversville, New York, passed away peacefully on December 23rd, 2025, surrounded by those she loved most.

Roberta was born “Roberta Hutchinson” in Broadalbin, New York, on October 15th, 1943. She grew up on a farm and was never shy about letting people know that she hated it. She had a unique spirit that was always honest, but never mean.

Roberta was known by many names: Bobby, Smiley, Nanny, and most importantly, Mom. She was cherished by everyone she met. Everyone who knew her was impacted by her love, positivity, incredible sense of humor, and heart-melting smile.

Roberta loved to laugh and made sure to do so every day. It was not uncommon for friends and family to be told, “Stop, I can’t breathe!” or “Cut it out, I’m going to pee my pants!” while she giggled with glee.Roberta met her soulmate, Elwood, when they were kids. Not a day went by in the 67 following years that they were not together. They cooked meals, cleaned dishes, did chores, and went everywhere side by side. If it could be done, they did it together. They would go “out on the town” on Friday nights and could often be found cleaning together Saturday morning, no matter how crazy the previous night had gotten.

Roberta had two beloved children, John and Kelly, whom she adored with all her heart. She never stopped being a mom and passionately supported her family whenever they needed, right up to the very end. Kelly speaks fondly about spending Saturdays at church thrift sales, searching for a perfect bargain. John will never forget the Christmas Eve parties spent playing cards around the kitchen table, watching his mother ruthlessly hustle everyone out of their cash with an innocent smile on her face.

If you visited her at home, you could find her in two places: her trusty couch or seated at the head of the kitchen table. Woe to the poor soul caught sitting in either of her spots. After she retired, she became a professional binge-watcher and never missed her daily soap operas, The Price Is Right, Survivor, Say Yes to the Dress, or any other of the endless list of shows she seemingly watched every day. When she wasn’t watching her shows, doing crossword puzzles, or lovingly pestering her husband, she was making her daily calls to the family, as she hated going for more than a day or two without checking in.

Roberta is survived by her husband, Elwood; children, John and Kelly; son-in-law, Dan; grandchildren, John Jr., Heather, Jennifer, and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Contessa, Gabe, and Gian; and several nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends. If it wasn’t already clear, she will be dearly missed.
