Gloria Mae Pfisthner, age 92, of Cloquet passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Evergreen Knoll. She was born on May 30,1933 in Cloquet, MN to John and Mary Ranta.
Gloria was a hard working woman, who cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors. Gloria worked in many industries throughout her life. She worked in the match mill in Cloquet. Gloria married Chuck Pfisthner on September 15th, 1953. She owned many businesses, including a grocery store on Big Lake Road and Pfisthner and Sons Paving. Gloria was very active in the Carlton County Horse Program for the 4H Club. She owned and boarded horses on their property. She attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was an active member of the altar guild for many years. Gloria was a beautiful person inside and out. She built a life focused on family and faith, instilling hard work, humility, and selflessness in her children and grandchildren. She was a beacon of pure, compassionate love, a rare gem whose prayers and advice shaped us. Her life was a testament to her motto, “Be kind and compassionate to one another,” She raised her children with love and independence, leaving behind a legacy of kindness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, parents, John and Mary Ranta; siblings, Arvo, Lila, Johnny, and Donnie.
She is survived by daughter Cheryl Caza of Duluth, MN; sons, Chuck Pfisthner Jr. of Lake Nebagamon, WI, Craig (Jane) Pfisthner of Big Fork, MT; Chris Pfisthner of Poplar, WI; grandsons, Bryce (Emily) Pfisthner of Cloquet, MN, Ben White of Cloquet, MN, Jake (Tyann) Pfisthner of Big Fork, MT, Sam (Morgan) Pfisthner Creston, MT, Wyatt Pfisthner of Duluth, MN, Nicholas Pfisthner of Superior, WI, and Tanner Johnson of Cloquet, MN; granddaughters, Brittany Finn of Cloquet, MN, Catie Gunderson (Pfisthner) of Park Falls, WI, and Kerrissa Cole of Ironwood, MI; great-grandchildren, Sewell, Liam, Kenna, Oaklynn, Levi, Cash, Owen, Eirik, Christian, Anders, Holly, Kyler, Oakleigh, Kinley, Liam, Lilian, Elizabeth, Jackson, Peyton, Mason, Adelyn; brother in law Richard Pfisthner of Lake Nebagamon, WI, and numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Service will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Service begins at 1pm with visitation one hour prior. Food and fellowship will follow after service.
