Dallas Duane Greenwood, age 90, peacefully entered eternal life on 12/25/25 with his family at his bedside. Born in Haxtun, Colorado on September 12th, 1935 to Troy Alonzo Greenwood and Norvein Leafel Gilbert Greenwood, Dallas was an only child. The young couple had left Kansas during the "Dust Bowl," settling near Haxtun. Later they farmed north of Otis, Colorado where Dallas attended the Lone Star School. In 1950 the Greenwoods bought a quarter section north of Sterling, CO. They raised dairy cattle, alfalfa, corn and wheat. Dallas graduated from Sterling High School in 1954.
After high school Dallas attended Northeastern Junior College from 1955-1957. He met his future wife, Cheryl Wanda Olsen in the NJC Choir. He transferred to Colorado State University in 1957 and majored in mechanical engineering. On August 23rd 1959 Dallas and Cheryl were married at the Sterling Foursquare Church.
Following their marriage, Dallas was employed at Stickneys in Sterling and also in Sidney, NE. In 1961 the couple welcomed their first daughter Terrillyn Suzette, followed by Trenee Yvonne in 1963. Dallas then became a truck driver with Northwest Transport in Sterling transferring to Colorado Springs in 1973 where Travis T. L. was born in 1977. The family resided in Monument, CO and then finally in Black Forest, north of Colorado Springs.
Dallas was hard working and dutiful, a steady rock through any storm. Always the creative he enjoyed building, inventing, woodcarving, toy making, and making repairs on cars. He studied genealogy, loved nature and observing the wild life outside his door. He lovingly served his family wholeheartedly and sacrificialy. We will miss him.
Dallas is survived by his children: Terrillyn and husband John Cudd, Trenee and husband Garry Helgestad, and Travis Greenwood. He is survived by grandson David Avery and wife Eleanor Seay Avery, granddaughter Sarah and husband John Sloan, granddaughter-in-law Alexandra Cudd. He is survived by 7 great-grandchildren: Madison and Everett Avery, John, Lily, and Ivy Sloan, Andrew and Iris Cudd.
He was joyfully reunited with his wife Cheryl (d.2018) and grandson Zachary Cudd (d.2019) upon his heavenly arrival. His body rests at Eastonville Cemetery following a graveside service.
