Bennie Collingwood Hite, 87, of Lexington, SC and most recently, Ridge Spring, SC, passed away on December 24, 2025. She was born on March 9, 1938 in New Bern, NC, to Robert E. and Sybil Lee Moore Collingwood. Bennie was a graduate of BC High School and was retired from Michelin Tires. In earlier years, Bennie was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Women’s Circles and served as a leader during VBS. More recently, she was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Lexington and their Faith Builder Class. Bennie loved the Lord, her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren, who simply called her, “Greatest”.
Bennie is survived by her 3 children, Tommy Booth (Barbara), Richard Booth (Barbie) and Cheryl B. Fitts; grandchildren, Katie Kitchen ( Brandon), Ben Booth (Jessica), Whitney Watters (Luke), Austin Williams (Kevin) and Devin Williams (Trey); 8 great grandchildren with 2 more expected in early June; sister, Jodie Friend (Mike); brother, Warren Collingwood; Brother in Law, Roy Cunningham; Sister in Law, Patsy Collingwood; Loving partner, Robert Ferrell; and her precious Pomeranian, Lila.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband of 37 years, Harold (Honey) Hite; her brothers, Robert E. Collingwood, Jr. and William Collingwood; and sisters, Jackie Watford, Lee Cunningham and Robin Bartsch.
Services for Bennie Hite will be held at 2 pm, Friday, January 2, 2026, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Pastor Ralph Schneck. Interment will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of sending flowers to the funeral home, please send flowers to someone you love in honor of Bennie or make a donation to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
