Wanda Howard, 91, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, In Lexington, Kentucky.  Only two months after the loss of her husband of 71 years, Alva Howard.  She was born in Little Bush Creek, Knox Co., Kentucky on September 20, 1934, to the late Fannie Campbell Bays, and Ishmael Bays.

 

Mrs. Howard earned her bachelor's degree from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky.  After a career of teaching in Michigan she retired in Baughman, Kentucky.  Before ancestry.com she spent tireless hours researching her family genealogy as well as helping others research their family trees.  She liked to crochet, plant flowers, and walk on the farm with her beloved pets.  She especially loved spending time with family.  Her last years were spent near her family in Wilmore, and Nicholasville, Kentucky.

 

Wanda was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and The First United Methodist Church in Barbourville.  

 

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Becky (Barney) Judd, and Roberta (Dave) Burdette, her grandchildren: Julia (Jason) Williams, Kevin (Rachelle) Burdette, Andrea Burdette (Matthew Petterson), Barney Judd III, Kyle (Chelsea) Burdette, 8 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

A service will be planned at a later date.
