Rachel Michelle Burch (Oord), age 40, returned to her father in heaven on December 21, 2025, in Boise, Idaho. Born on August 20, 1985, in Montclair, California, Rachel lived a life defined by faith, compassion and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
Rachel grew up on her family dairy in Sunnyside, Washington, a time she frequently reminisced upon. Rachel loved sports and was a standout athlete at Sunnyside Christian School. She attended Washington State University in Richland, Washington where she graduated with a degree in Psychology. Her academic journey laid the foundation for a meaningful career in the mental health field – a calling she embraced with deep passion and purpose. Rachel’s dedication extended far beyond her professional responsibilities; she often continued to support those in need well after her workday ended. Her impact was profound and lasting for the many lives she touched.
Of all her life accomplishments, Rachel was most proud and held dear her beautiful daughters and son. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Nate Burch; daughters Ella and Ava Ivey; and son Andrew Burch. She also leaves behind her father and stepmother, Henry and Karen Oord; her mother and stepfather, Jennifer and John Postgate; her sister, Colleen Oord; her mother and father-in-law, Roni and Bob Atkins; her father-in-law, Russ Burch; her step brothers and sisters, Jordyn and Jace Schenck, Jessica Danforth, John “Web”, Shane “Sport” and Tanner “Nish” Postgate; her sister and brother-in-law, Kameron and Dustin Aldous; her step mother and father, Margo and Bryan Gilham; and her cherished nieces and nephews – Alex, Emma, and Stella Barisic; Ava, Addison, and Carson Aldous. Rachel is preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Dena Oord, Frank Joseph “Pat” Lodes, Susan Marquard; and her stepbrother, Hunter “Bebe” Postgate.
Rachel’s love for the outdoors was a defining part of who she was. Whether fly fishing alongside Nate – one of their favorite shared pastimes – or camping with family and friends under open skies, she felt most alive surrounded by God’s beauty in nature. Her creativity shone through in crafting and restoration projects that reflected both skill and heart. Whether she was attending worship concerts with family and friends, leading worship at home with her family or singing bible songs to her baby boy Andrew – Rachel’s love of music was evident. Rachel’s playful and joyous personality filled her home laughter creating a warm space where all felt welcome.
Her deep love for animals – especially her beloved English Bulldogs – was another testament to her nurturing spirit. But above all else, Rachel’s life was anchored by her faith. Her heart for Jesus was immense; she shared the gospel openly with all those willing to listen. Faith guided every aspect of her life – from how she loved others to how she built her home. Jesus remained at the center of her marriage and family life.
Rachel will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, caring daughter and sister, loyal friend, and compassionate advocate for those in need. Her legacy is one of kindness without condition and service without expectation.
