Helen Jane Westenberger of Englewood, Florida, went to be with the Lord our Savior on December 27, 2025 with her loving son Brian at her bedside, following a brief illness. Born July 15, 1937 in West Bristol, Pennsylvania, Helen was the daughter of the late John and Agnes Reis of Bristol, Pennsylvania. Prior to moving to Florida, Helen was a member of The Living Water Bible Church of Mount Royal, New Jersey. After she and her husband relocated to Florida to be closer to their son, she attended the Christ Lutheran Church of Englewood and often enjoyed Sunday brunch with other church goers. Miss Helen kept up with her family and friends special occasions. Her “little red book” was full of birthdays, anniversaries, addresses and phone numbers and everyone in it was sure to get a call or greeting card on their special day. As a member of the Quirky Knitters at the Elsie Quirk Library, Miss Helen crocheted blankets for Military Veterans. She often knitted/crocheted various items for family and friends and poured her heart into each blanket she crafted, always including her signature button. Snuggling up under one of her blankets left a reminder of her warmth on the outside and her love on the inside. Living close to the community mailboxes Miss Helen greeted her neighbors for a morning chat and always had dog biscuits on hand for all their little furry friends. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Rudy Westenberger, one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Candice Westenberger, Cape Haze, Florida. Helen enjoyed two granddaughters, Tanya and Heather Westenberger and one great-granddaughter Aliah Baez Westenberger. She is also survived by four brothers and their spouses; John (Jack)Reis, William and Patricia Reis, Edmund (Butch) and Lucy Reis, Elwood and Joan Reis, one sister, Sophie Nudd, and 17 nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Preceding her in death was one brother, Howard Reis; two sisters, Alice McClintic and Doris Pierciey; two sisters-in-law; Edith (Jack), Joan (Howard) and 3 brothers-in-law; Elwood McClintic (Alice), Francis (Bucky) Pierciey (Doris), and Robert Nudd (Sophie). Helen will be remembered at a private service with family and friends at Englewood Community Funeral Home, Englewood, Florida on January 5, 2025.
