Debra “Debbie” Fansler Chapman, age 69 of Church Hill, TN, entered the glories of Heaven with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 1, 2026. Debbie was born on November 5, 1956, in Kingsport, TN to James and Dorothy Fansler. Debbie graduated from Gate City High School in 1975 and after 37 years as a dedicated employee at Eastman Chemical Company, she retired in 2016. On June 28, 1980, Debbie married the love of her life and soulmate, Craig Chapman, and enjoyed 45 years of a beautiful life together.
Debbie’s relationship with Jesus and her family were her life. She was a devout member at First Baptist Church of Gate City for 45 years, where she served the Lord in many ministries. She was always known as a strong prayer warrior, and she was an inspiration to all who knew her. In recent years what brought Debbie the most joy was being a grandmom to her four grandchildren. Debbie also enjoyed traveling, in which she traveled to all 50 states; and her favorite adventure was Italy, Turkey and Greece.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her legacy and testimony are her husband, Craig Chapman; two daughters, Amber Lewis and husband, Andrew, and Ashley Carter and husband, Justin; four grandchildren, Owen Carter, Emma Carter, James Lewis, and Samuel Lewis; two brothers, Jerry Fansler and wife, Johnita, and Mike Fansler; two special sisters-in-law, Sandy Chapman, and Susan Skeen; and many other loving family members, church family and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Holston Valley Medical Center, Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, and Dr. Jillian Lloyd with UT Medical Center.
A private family graveside service will be held at Holston View Cemetery with Pastors Luke Tolley and Jeff DeBoard officiating. The deacons of First Baptist Church Gate City will be serving as pallbearers. There will be a public celebration of life service held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 4:00 pm at First Baptist Church Gate City.
