Romanita Medina, born in 1939, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 86. She was a strong and remarkable woman whose life was defined by love, faith, creativity, and devotion to her family.

Romanita was the oldest of seven children, a role that reflected her natural strength, leadership, and care for others.

She was fearless in expressing what she wanted out of life and pursued everything she did with passion and determination. Family was at the center of her world, and she poured her heart into those she loved. She is survived by her son, Art and daughter, Naomi, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, all of whom were the greatest joys of her life. Upon her passing, Romanita was reunited in heaven with her son, Peter, whom she held close in her heart.

Known for her endless stories and lively conversations, Romanita was a natural storyteller who loved to talk, laugh, and connect with others. She had a deep love for fashion and took pride in her appearance and creativity. Gifted with her hands, she created beautiful pieces through crocheting, quilting, and needlework, leaving behind tangible expressions of her love.

Romanita also cherished capturing memories, often behind the camera, preserving moments of her family and friends that will be treasured for generations. She loved cooking for her family and delighted in bringing everyone together through food. Adventurous at heart, she embraced new experiences wholeheartedly, always going “all in” with an undeniable passion for life.

Above all, Romanita was a woman of unwavering faith who never lost her trust in God. Her strength, love, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
