Edward Charles Carter, 98, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. He was born in Scott County, VA to the late Dudley and Dollie Carter. Edward served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Power Equipment following many years of service. Edward was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Carter; brothers, Ralph and Elmer Carter.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra Smith and husband Jerry; granddaughter, Carey Lewis and husband Bob; great granddaughters, Marley and Morgan Lewis; along with a host of friends and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Scott County Funeral Home.
A graveside service will follow at Holston View Cemetery with Pastor Garin Hill officiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry Smith, Bob Lewis, Mike Carter, Bill Darnell, Charles Darnell, and Thad Carter.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holston View UMC at 174 Church Street Weber City, VA 24290.
