Helen Wetzel, age 97, passed away peacefully. She was born on May 12, 1928, in Janesville, Wisconsin, to Edward Lenerz and Irene Boothroyd. Helen was a longtime resident of Sauk City, WI, which she always considered her hometown and where she held many fond memories of raising her family. She loved watching sports and enjoying a cold beer while faithfully following the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Milwaukee Brewers. Helen truly enjoyed people and never missed an opportunity to visit and talk with others. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Sea World in Florida, a job she greatly enjoyed. She was united in marriage to Albert Wetzel on June 19, 1948, in Sauk City, Wisconsin. They shared 67 years of marriage until Albert’s passing. Helen is survived by her children Alan Wetzel, Mary Jo (Paul) Dahms, and Edward Wetzel; son – in- laws Dave Richter and John Verbeeck, grandchildren Tracey, Stacey, Katie, Nicole, and Timothy; and her great-grandchildren Halle and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert; her daughters Jean Richter, and Martha Verbeeck; her siblings Howard Lenerz and Del Lenerz; and her daughter-in-law Wendy Wetzel. A visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at St. William Catholic Church, Waukesha, WI 53188.
