Sara Ann Weiss, 83, of West Deptford, NJ passed away in her home on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, while surrounded by loving family.
A friendly and loving woman whose warmth touched everyone she met. Sissy, as she was affectionately known, was always active in her community and was deeply involved in church and school functions, generously giving her time and support to those around her. Sissy especially enjoyed traveling, with cruises alongside her husband of 63 beautiful years holding a special place in her heart, as well as spending time at the Jersey Shore. An avid reader, she found joy and relaxation in books, and she also loved bowling and spending time at the casinos, where she enjoyed playing the slots. Above all, she will be remembered for her kindness, her strong sense of family and faith, and the joy she brought into the lives of so many.
Predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Sarah (Costello) Hammel, and siblings Mary and Fred, Sissy is survived by devoted husband, Michael C. Weiss, Sr.; her children, Cheryl Strobino and her husband Phil, Michael Jr., Debbie, David and his wife Angela and Joanne Mackin and her husband Jeff; her siblings, Dolores (Tom), Kathy (Brian), Joannie (Paul), Brenda and Shelly (Mike); her grandchildren, Christa, Chelsea, Eric (Maloree), Nick, JD (Taylor), Montana (Trent), T, Jake and Sadie; great-grandchildren, Maddy, Maverick, Ryder, Macie and Miller. Sissy is also survived by her extended family, in-laws and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ 08096. McGuinness Funeral Homes - Woodbury
We have served the Woodbury community since 1951, when our founder, James A. McGuinness, opened our first funeral home. He knew the importance of families having a trustworthy, local funeral home to help them memorialize their lost loved ones and navigate grief. Our beautiful funeral home in Woodbury was originally built in the late 1700s, and has since been rebuilt to honor its original charm and comfortable, warm feel. Once you walk through our doors, you become family....
