Elliott C. Nelms passed away on January 7th, 2026 In Largo, FL, two hours from his home in Inverness, FL. Elliott was born and raised in Suffolk, VA. He attended community college in Virginia as well as the University of Virginia. Prior to retiring after 30 years of federal civil service employment, he received the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award. He then began employment with CEXEC Inc., located in Reston, VA, in 1989 before moving to a CEXEC division located in Melbourne, FL in 1992, retiring for a second time in 2015. Elliott participated as a member and officer in various organizations such as the American Society of Nondestructive Testing, American Society for Quality Control, National Contract Management Association, and Toastmasters. He was with the Boy Scouts of America in Suffolk, VA for 10 years serving as committee member, Assistant Scoutmaster, and Committee Chairman. He enjoyed his family, friends, boating, fishing, cards, and home projects. He is survived by three children, Scott Nelms (Lisa) of Pensacola, FL, Ramona Hyatt of Chesapeake, VA, and Clark Nelms of Suffolk, VA; three grandchildren, Melissa Hyatt (Chris Lackie) of Virginia Beach, VA, Will Hyatt of Portsmouth, VA, and Tara Nelms of Pensacola, FL; one great grandchild, Henry Lackie of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by his beloved dog Jonah.
