Obituary for Ann (Kohut, Penrose) Hudson
With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ann Hudson, born October 6, 1943, who died unexpectedly on January 3, 2026, while residing at Loretto. Though we were not able to be with her in her final moments, she remained in the compassionate care of those who watched over her. Ann faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s with quiet strength and a spirit that continued to shine through. Known for her humor, her love of bingo and crocheting, her joy in community events, and her ever‑growing collection of knick‑knacks, she brought warmth and laughter to everyone around her. Above all, she cherished her three daughters, her grandchildren, and her great‑grandchildren, who were the heart of her world.
Ann’s early years were marked by hardship, growing up as the child of alcoholic parents and spending time in an orphanage before graduating from an all‑girls school. Despite the challenges she faced, she carried a remarkable lightness through life. Her marriage to our father brought both love and difficulty, and though they separated many times before ultimately divorcing, she remained a deeply happy person who refused to let anything steal her joy. She was the sweetest soul—gentle, funny, and endlessly patient, never one to complain.
Ann built a successful career with Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she worked for many years before enjoying a part‑time role at Dollar General. In her mind, she traveled the world with Strong Shipping. A fun memory for her family. Through every chapter, she met life with resilience, humor, and a heart full of kindness — a strength she quietly passed on to her daughters, who carry her spirit forward in their own lives.
