Mischelle Chambon was born on September 28, 1966, at University Hospital in Denver, Colorado. She passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Mischelle is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis Chambon, Jr; her beloved son, Nicholas Marro; her treasured stepchildren Tegan (Caleb) Crawford, Aspen (Cael) Cripe, and Remy Chambon; her mother, Terri Marro; her stepsisters Brenda (Lucas) Adams and Jennifer (Reuben) Armstead; her nephews Clay and Michel Adams; her nieces, Abigail and Riley Williams; life-long friends Sharon Jones, Leslie and Quentin Henry, LaRee Henry, Lacy Didericksen, and Kelly Rostad; and her family by marriage including Dennis and Karen Chambon, David and Sheryl Arpin, Colby and Wendy Foos, Kristiana Morales and Luke Rainford, Star Chambon, Jax Chambon, Kristopher and Kelsey McDowell, Ty and Beau Foos. She was preceded in death by her father, Lou Marro; her stepson Fox Chambon; and Lucky Jones.
Mischelle was raised on the Emil Clark Ranch in Divide, Colorado. From a very young age, her life was shaped by her love of horses. At just five years old, she rode in her first Gymkhana on a borrowed horse named Penny, owned by family friends. That early experience sparked a lifelong passion. She joined 4-H and proudly represented her community at the Teller County Freemont Fair, where she showed horses in halter classes for many years.
Mischelle’s family owned several horses, but her heart belonged to one in particular – Jubilee-Jet, a dark bay horse who became her favorite. She rode and showed Jubilee-Jet with pride, and at the age of eight, she earned second place in Horsemanship at the State Fair, a moment her family always remembered with joy.
At thirteen, Mischelle traveled to California to stay with family friends, Joe and Freyja. While there, she had the unforgettable honor of riding in the Rose Bowl Parade with Freyja—an experience that became one of her most cherished memories.
At the age of 16, Mischelle’s confidence, grace and love for riding led her to win Rodeo Queen at the Woodland Park Ute Trail Stampede Rodeo, a title that reflected both her talent and her bright, spirited personality.
On March 31, 2016, Mischelle married her best friend and the love of her life, Dennis “JR” Chambon, in a private ceremony at his grandparents’ home in the Garden of the Gods. Mischelle and JR were buddies who shared a “big life” together. During her final weeks, they often talked about their wish to meet again someday for “another run.”
Although her time was cut short by her battle with cancer, Mischelle lived a lifetime filled with adventures. The playlist for her escapades is long, and the friendships that she made along the way were many.
Mischelle will be remembered for her strength, her deep love for animals, her dedication to family, and the many joyful memories she created throughout her life with friends. Mischelle was a fighter, and she lived life to the fullest up until the very end. Her spirit will live in the hearts of all who loved her, and she will never be forgotten.
The memorial service will be held at 3:00PM, Thursday, January 15, 2026, at First Baptist Church, located at 317 E Kiowa St, Colorado Springs, Coloradao 80903.
