Michael David Rogers passed away at his home on Christmas Day,
December 25, 2025 of pancreatic cancer surrounded by his family and pets. He was 71 years old and a life-long resident of Las Vegas.
He was proceeded in death by his father, David Rogers and wife, Elba Rogers. Michael’s mother, Nancy Belian and her late husband, Charles Belian. His In-Laws Joseph and Elisabeth Baker. Sandy’s mother Dora Seid, his late sister-in-law Pauline Wojnarowski, late Kenneth and Kim Erifler. Gilbert Cebollero is deceased.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Sandy of 53 years. Michael’s siblings: Suzynne Fowler and her late husband Edward, Donovan Belian; Trish Elliot (Karl), Russ Belian, Panda Basham (Mark), Jeri Boone late husband Richard of Las Vegas. Lorraine Cebollero (Steven) of Seattle, Cindy Pherigo of Iowa, Hudson Baker Sr. (Sunnylee), Ward Baker Sr. of Denver and Marry Lively late husband Norman. He was cherished by his nieces and nephews: Sgt. Casey Elliott, Erin Ostopuck (Brian), Zachary Basham, Sydney Basham, Ward Baker Jr. of Denver, Hudson Baker Jr., Margaret Lively, Brianna Johnson (Jake), and Anya VanCleave. Great nieces and nephews: Declan Ostopuck, Drayson Dove, Rayden, Kohen, Kinsley and Bailey Baker, Cooper, Emery Johnson and Bella VanCleave. Sister-In-law Lori Gardner (Dwight) and Charlie Baker.
Michael was a graduate of VoTech High School in Las Vegas and Denver Automotive Diesel College where he met his wife, Sandy.
Michael was a member of Local 720 stagehands union IATSE since 1974. He worked over 50 years on the Las Vegas strip as a Theatrical Technician, Head Electric and Follow-Spotlight Operator at some iconic hotel/casinos as the Desert Inn, Sahara and Caesars Palace and many more. He was one of the original cowboys that could run a carbon arc spotlight and could change the rod during the show without losing the light.
Michael loved music, his favorite was Pink Floyd. He had a great love of animals, and nature. He is survived by his cherished and beloved boxers: Arizona, Kuaii and Denver. He had a very creative mind that never ceased to amaze. He designed and built the beautiful house they resided in for 25 years. He was an avid collector of classic cars refurbishing and rebuilding many.
Michael was a man of few words, but great with one-liners. He will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was an honorable and incredible man who was loved and respected by many. All whom knew Michael will miss him and carry fond memories of his genuine loving and caring soul. He was taken way too soon. He will be forever loved and missed.
