Krista May Emrick, age 62, passed away peacefully at home, December 29th, 2025, in Fountain Colorado surrounded by members of her loving family. She fought a long battle against Multiple Sclerosis and a short hard battle against pancreatic cancer.
Krista was born on July 3rd, 1963, in Laramie, WY to Franklin M and Olive Joyce (Eckenrode) Stofflet. The family lived in Torrington, WY until 1964 when Frank took a teaching position in Casper, WY. Krista grew up in Casper and attended Pineview Elementary School, East Junior High, and Kelly Walsh High School, graduating in 1981. She enjoyed reading, playing card games, word games, and working crossword puzzles. If Krista couldn’t be found, her dad would say “she’s got her nose in a book”.
Krista made her choice to serve God in June of 1973. Her relationship with God brought her great comfort to a life that was filled with many health hardships. Despite these hardships, Krista remained faithful and displayed a gentle spirit for all to see. She loved the gospel and served with zeal.
Krista spent her summers with her family on the Stofflet Family Farm in Wheatland Wyoming helping with the hay and other crop operations. It was there in 1979; while trying to escape Grandma Violet’s rooster, Krista leapt into the arms of the love of her life Perry Emrick. According to her close friend Lorraine, “they couldn’t keep their eyes off one another”. The couple married in 1980 and lived in Hanna Wyoming where Perry worked for the coal mine until 1986. They were blessed with two children, Felicia in 1981 and Jeremy in 1983. When the mine closed in 1986, they move to Colorado Springs Colorado and bought Town and Country Upholstery shop. Krista helped with the books for the shop and years later cleaned houses.
Krista was a homemaker and took care of the couples’ children. Their daughter Felicia was born with a genetic disorder called Cornelia de Lange Syndrome and she required very special care. Krista loving provided this care to her and when Jeremy was born, it was like having twins. In her mid to late twenties, Krista started displaying signs and symptoms of MS. She fought with all her strength to continue caring for her children until she could no longer do so. Despite this disease that left her body weak, Krista displayed so much inner resolve and strength through it all. In 2000, Krista lost her ability to walk, and Perry took over full-time care of her and their daughter. When Felicia passed away in 2005, Krista and Perry decided to open their home to foster children and became certified foster parents. In 2009, they took in two brothers Andrew and Austin and in 2010 the couple was able to adopt them. Krista adored and loved the boys with all her heart. During this time, she also became grandma to twin boys Logan and Kayden, and in 2024 another grandson, Oliver, was born.
Survivors include her husband Perry, sons Jeremy (Katelyn) Emrick, Andrew(Zero Anderson) Emrick, Austin Emrick, grandchildren Logan, Kayden, and Oliver Emrick, father Franklin M Stofflet, brother Franklin W (Debra) Stofflet, sister April (Cliff) Gindulis, Mother In Law Rosalee Emrick, Brother-In-Laws Russel (Cathy) Emrick, Doug (Eileen) Emrick, Roger (Penny) Emrick, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other special relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Felicia, Mother Olive J Stofflet, maternal and paternal grandparents, and Father-in-Law George Emrick.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Hospice and all the healthcare professionals who helped with Krista’s care over the years.
Krista’s ashes will be interned next to her daughter in Elizabeth Colorado in the summer of 2026.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at The Springs Funeral Services, located at 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society or Compassus Hospice Care. If you wish to help Perry and the boys in another way, please reach out to her sister April Gindulis at [email protected]
