Clayton Stacy, born July 13, 1949, in Dwarf, Kentucky—affectionately known to him as “the Holler”—passed away on January 11, 2026. His early years in Kentucky and later in Middletown, Ohio, shaped the values he carried throughout his life: hard work, grit, loyalty, and a deep sense of responsibility to others.

Clayton proudly served in the United States Navy, beginning a lifelong commitment to public service. After completing his military service, he continued that calling as a police officer and later a detective, dedicating many years to protecting his community and seeking the truth. Even after retiring from official law enforcement, his instinct to help others never faded. He went on to work as a private investigator and process server, guiding people through difficult and often complicated situations with fairness, steadiness, and integrity. Those who knew him respected his experience, trusted his judgment, and valued his unwavering loyalty. He will be remembered for a life spent in service—and for never forgetting where he came from.

Clayton was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Sue, in 2022. He is survived by his three children—Michelle Alice Stacy SmithJohn Lee Stacy (Shay), and Barbara Gail Stacy-Skill (Adam) —and by his beloved granddaughter, Katie Mae Stacy‑Skill, who brought him immense pride and joy. He leaves behind family, friends, and many others whose lives he touched through his work, his kindness, and his friendship. He will be deeply missed and long remembered.

At Clayton’s request, no funeral services are planned. A military graveside interment for both Clayton and his wife Brenda will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina, at a future date.
