Fredrick “Fred” Churchwell, 90, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 12, 2026. He was born in Kingsport to the late Glen and Sallie Churchwell. Fred served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a devoted member of Bartons Chapel Baptist Church in Kingsport. He enjoyed visiting the Mt. Carmel and Church Hill Senior Centers and especially enjoyed the Bluegrass Music. Fred was a loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great grandson, Ethan. Survivors include his daughter, Wendy Churchwell-Marshall; grandchildren, Tommy, Carl (Kristina), and Tyler (Alexa); 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; along with a host of friends and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Bro. J.E. Mauk officiating.
A military graveside will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park with honors conducted by the VA National Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
