Dale R. Mason, age 92, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026.  Born in Greeley, Colorado on August 21, 1933, Dale spent most of his life in Loveland, where he was known as a hardworking, kindhearted and unforgettable part of the community. He was a man who had overcome more obstacles than most will ever know - with pride, dignity and hard work.

Dale was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War who served his country with honor.  After his service, he carried that same dedication into every chapter of his life, working in several careers including the Colorado State Patrol, owning and operating an auto body shop and driving trucks for a number of businesses in the Loveland area, including many years with Walmart.

Dale’s greatest passion was for cars, especially classics. He loved restoring and remodeling vintage cars – a hobby that brought him joy and lifelong friendships.  One of his most cherished projects was his 1955 red Ford pickup, which held a special place in his heart and brought smiles to many around town.  For Dale, cars were about more than engines and paint; they were about people and connection.

Dale was known for his big heart and sense of humor.  He loved handing out his famous ‘Free Hug’ coupons, a simple business card that never failed to make people laugh and feel welcomed. They captured who he was: funny, warm and always ready to brighten someone’s day. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Dale is survived by his adored wife of 68 years, Carole, his daughters, Leanne Olson and Karen Paterson, his grandchildren, Kersten Olson, Anna Paterson and Jake Paterson.  He was deeply loved and will be missed by many but his stories, his hugs and his legacy will live on.

Services and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
