Docia Ann Gross passed away with family by her side at home in Tenino, Washington on January 1, 2026.

She was born on November 7, 1933, in Beckley, West Virginia to William Leet Cook and Elizabeth Grace Cook. When she was 19, she enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she was a radio engineer, and met the love of her life, Jim.

They got married on November 7, 1953, at the Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. In 1955, Jim was stationed at McChord Air Force Base, and they moved to Washington.

Docia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was active in Tenino and spent lots of time volunteering at local schools. She loved her Seattle Mariners and Seahawks, birds, reading, and spending time in the garden.

She is survived by her three children, Jeff, Delinda and Connie, grandchildren Rebekah, Jason (Lindsay), Alex, Taylor (Mario), and great-grandchildren Bella, Juliette, Keeton, Eli and Hayden. She was preceded in death by Jim, her husband of 56 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 24 at the First Presbyterian Church (196 Central Ave E.) in Tenino.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tenino Community Service Center, P.O. Box 1239, Tenino, WA 98589.
