Ruth Laverne Greenblatt departed this life on January 13, 2026, at the age of 94 in Weeki Wachee, Florida.
Ruth was born on February 14, 1931, in Brookfield, Missouri. She moved from Missouri to Peoria, Illinois where she raised her family before retiring to Safety Harbor, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald J. Greenblatt, who faithfully stood by her side for 61 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, leaving behind her beloved daughters, Shelley Graham, Ann Shine (Brian Shine), Adeena Funderburk (Richard N. Funderburk), and Trudy Mitchell, and her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer DiBlasi and Richard G. Funderburk, who will carry on her legacy.
Ruth made her mark as a Waitress Extraordinaire at Lenny’s Restaurant in Clearwater, where her presence was felt and cherished by all who dined there. She enjoyed every moment spent helping others, and she will forever be an integral part of Lenny's Restaurant.
Outside of her career, Ruth was an avid player of Mah Jongg and Bridge, and she found joy in crocheting and knitting. She was known for her exceptional cooking and hospitality, often opening her home to family and friends for gatherings filled with laughter and delicious food.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones consider making a donation to the Kindness Krewe which is a community-based organization that Ruth passionately supported. They bring joy to underprivileged youth by celebrating birthdays in foster group homes. Donations for Kindness Krewe can be made via PayPal to SherrieMcGill@Kindness-Krewe or to The Humane Society, both of which align with Ruth’s values of kindness and compassion.
