Dorothy Johnson passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born to Carl Johan and Myrtle (Vickerman) Johnson on June 22, 1931, in the “Big Woods” of Amherst Township, Fillmore County, MN. She was the third of six children and spent her childhood in Amherst Township and later Newburg, MN. She worked a variety of jobs before settling in the manufacturing industry, where she worked until her retirement around 2001.
Dorothy moved her and her daughter to Colorado in 1975 and settled in Loveland at the foot of the Rocky Mountains where she spent the rest of her life.
She loved to spend time in the mountains enjoying nature. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching and thought of them as her own. When she wasn’t with nature, she worked on a variety of puzzles. She was a strong, independent woman and a devoted mother. She took great pleasure in taking care of those around her. Everyone that knew her considered her another mother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Pernella (Helgeson) and Marlyn (Sayles), and brother Irvin “Buddy” Johnson. She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Peterson) of Colorado, 2 sisters: Janice (Wheeler) of North Carolina and Carol (Skadsem) of Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered by those that knew her for her caring spirit and smile.
She will be inurned in Minnesota at a later date.
