Linda Carole Bosse, 79, of Versailles, Kentucky, passed away on January 14, 2026 at UK Medical Center after a short illness.  Linda was the widow of Robert B. Overstreet who served as both District and Circuit Judge of the 14th Judicial Circuit (Bourbon, Scott and Woodford Counties).  She was the only child of Douglas C. and Virgie M. Bosse of Brooksville, Kentucky. Surviving relatives include her maternal first cousin, Steven Dean and paternal first cousins, Douglas Bosse (Jane), Barbara Ellen Mingua, Lynn Ellen Lindsay (Davis); and Larry Mingua (Bonnie).

Linda graduated from Bracken High School in 1964 and from Transylvania University in 1968 earning a degree in business administration. Upon graduation, she worked as a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and traveled throughout Kentucky in that capacity. In 1975 she accepted a position as Director of Operations at United Bank & Trust Company in Versailles where she worked until her retirement in 2007.  At the time of her retirement, she was a Vice President of the Bank as well as Director of Operations.

Linda and Bob married on May 7, 1976 in Morrison Chapel at Transylvania University. During their nearly 40-year marriage and until his death in 2016 they enjoyed hosting friends at their home on Craigs Creek Road, cheering on the Wildcats, taking numerous cruises, and traveling extensively throughout the United States and to foreign countries including England, Scotland, and Japan.

Linda was involved in numerous community and civic activities. In 1990, the Woodford Co. Chamber of Commerce recognized her as “Education Person of the Year” for her volunteer work with the Woodford Co. High School Vocational Advisory Committee and the Woodford Co. Community Education Advisory Council as well as for her work with Homemakers and as a volunteer at the Secret Santa annual event. Linda was also a founding member of Magical Musical Fourth and served on the planning committee during the entire 20 odd years that the popular event featuring the Lexington Philharmonic was held in Woodford County.

After her retirement, Linda continued to be active in community endeavors. She served on the Board of the Woodford County Theatrical Arts Association and was elected to the position of treasurer. Following her retirement in 2007 she was hired as a bookkeeper for the Woodford County Extension District Board and served in that position until her death. She was an active member and leader at Versailles Presbyterian Church. She founded a book club in her neighborhood and was also a leading force in starting an investment club for women.

Linda loved the arts. She regularly attended plays at both Woodford Theater and the Opera House. She almost never missed attending the Monday night recording of WoodSongs Radio Hour at the Lyric Theater.

Linda was deeply interested in people and their stories.

She had a great sense of humor and a unique perspective on life. She made friends easily; once someone became Linda’s friend, they were a friend for life. While her friends are too numerous to mention by name, her lasting connections derive from childhood, college, the Columns Apartment complex, work, neighbors, book clubs, homemakers, church, tailgating at UK football games, investment clubs, her many community endeavors, and the Extension Office.

Burial will be private at Rose Crest Cemetery in Versailles. Linda’s life will be honored during a Celebration of Life to be held at Clark Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles Road, Frankfort, on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Her friends are encouraged to attend and to share their memories and stories regarding this remarkable woman.
