Ramona “Mona” Patricia Ann Samora
On Saturday, January 3, 2026, while surrounded by her loved ones, Mona Samora went home to the Lord.
Mona was born on December 26, 1961, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Tillie Garcia (Silva) and Senovio Garcia. She met the love of her life, Pete Samora, in 1978, and the two were later married on Valentine’s Day. Mona was a devoted mother who loved raising her four children and one very special grandchild.
Mona spent many years working at a Women’s Rehabilitation Center, helping vulnerable mothers turn their lives around. She was able to teach her mothering skills and undoubtedly touched the hearts of many young women and children.
Mona was a strong believer in her faith in God. She trusted in His plan, knowing that everything happens for a reason. Her faith kept her optimistic, hopeful, and forgiving. Always cheerful and in good spirits, Mona truly looked at the bright side of life.
She enjoyed shopping and city life but found true peace in her own home. She lovingly cared for her animals, house plants, and garden roses. She often listened to radio station 98.1 KANW and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, in honor of her mother, Tillie.
Above all, Mona cherished her loved ones. Always thinking of others, she would drop everything if someone needed her. She loved giving and never hesitated to feed anyone who was hungry. Distance was never an issue, as she spent countless hours talking and laughing on the phone. Her greatest joy in life was being with friends and family, and she was deeply loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tillie Garcia (Silva) and Senovio Garcia; and Godparents Elma Silva and Santos Silva Jr.
Mona is survived by the love of her life, Pete Samora; her three sons, Pete V. Samora, Christopher L. Samora, and Jacob S. Samora; and her daughter, Stephanie M. Samora; her special granddaughter, Kristina Samora; her stepfather Rudy Chavez; and her siblings, Lucia L. Bracken, Vince A. Silva, Paul J. Garcia (Paula), Manuel A. Garcia (Debbie), Angela Garcia-Wilson (Mike), Sally Samora, and Ida Montoya, along with many other friends and family members whom Mona touched along the way.
