LOVE – “Something you show others, how you treat somebody. You don’t turn away from people. You help them with whatever problems they have.” To her family and friends, Jane embodied and exemplified this to the best of her ability her entire life. Jane Carhart Connor Wiseman, after 96 full and productive years, was called peacefully home to Heaven Monday, January 12, 2026, at her residence in The Villages, Florida.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA to Dorothy Bowlby Connor and Ray Lindsey Connor on October 22, 1929, Jane spent all twelve school years in Bridgeville, PA, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1947. She then attended college and earned a bachelor’s degree from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1951 where she also received her master’s degree in social work in 1953. A natural beauty, Jane was a queen’s court candidate in her local high school and Spring Carnival Queen at Carnegie-Mellon University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Mortar Board Honor Society. Following graduation, Jane worked in the Juvenile Court system in Pittsburgh, PA for two years.

On June 27th, 1953, Jane married her soul mate and the love of her life, Floyd Lawrence Wiseman, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Bridgeville, PA. Two years later, twin daughters were born, and much later a third daughter was added to the family. Jane chose to stay at home to rear their children, working only occasionally in social work while the children were at school. She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for several years with her girls, and much later managed a family-owned ice cream shop for several years during the day.

Jane plunged into her role as wife and mother with great conviction, diligence, and courage. As a talented woman with many interests, she enjoyed sewing for her girls and her home. Later she sewed costumes for various singing productions, and in recent years coordinated and led a group to sew teddy bears for seriously ill children at Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis, Florida.

Music was a huge part of her life, so from childhood, Jane took dancing lessons, was a high school drum majorette, sang in various school and church choirs, and in recent years sang with the Sweet Adelines of The Villages. She also loved to decorate, craft, entertain and plan parties. Her favorite musical entertainments were tunes and love songs from the Big Band era, and classical productions such as Rogers and Hammerstein musicals.

Jane kept in great physical shape, which inspired and motivated all her girls to take good care of themselves and their families. As an avid Steelers fan, she also enjoyed ice skating and swimming, as well as golfing with her husband. She was known by friends as a great putter!

As a believer in Christ, Jane involved herself in civic women’s clubs and church activities. Always ready to lend a hand, she once headed a kindergarten program in her local church for 3 years which continued to expand beyond her able leadership. Jane faithfully attended various Bible studies and very much enjoyed organizing social events in the church such as annual women’s teas.

Along with Floyd, Jane traveled all over the United States and the world to destinations such as Hawaii, Alaska, Denmark, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, St. Petersburg, Israel, Rome, and Greece, as well as cruising the Atlantic and the Caribbean. Her favorite places to visit were Scotland and Ireland because they “felt like home”.

As a devoted Christian, wife, and mother, Jane’s daughters recognize her as a true Proverbs 31 lady. The following verses perfectly express the accomplishments, heart, and life of their beloved mother: “Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously,

but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Prov. 31:28-31

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lawrence Wiseman, her father, Ray, mother, Dorothy, brother, Ray Bowlby, brothers-in-law, Roderick Wiseman, Ronald Fonner, and Wilson Blake, and sister-in-law, Violet (Wiseman) Fonner. She is survived by daughters, Sandra Wiseman Smith (Gregory), Linda Wiseman-Jones (Randall), Karen Wiseman Roberts (Dennis), 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great- grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Jean (Wiseman) Blake and Janet (Arden) Wiseman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3984 County Road 214, Oxford, FL, 34484, Monday, January 19, 2026, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, Memorial Service following, Pastor Gilbert Moore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Faith Presbyterian Church are gratefully accepted. The family of Jane Wiseman extend their sincere thanks to Pastor Gilbert and her beloved church family.
