Steven “Steve” Mark Schwartz, devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at the age of 80 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Born on July 21, 1945, in Somerville, New Jersey, to Irving and Mary (Freint) Schwartz, Steve grew up with strong family values. After graduating from Somerville High School, he attended Florida Southern College. He later joined his father in running the family business, Schwartz Furniture—later known as Schwartz Ethan Allen Gallery—in Somerville. In time, Steve and his brother Donald expanded the business, opening and managing several La-Z-Boy stores throughout Central Jersey.

In 1969, Steve met Barbara Caffin on a blind date, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and laughter. They married on March 1, 1970, and together raised two daughters, Susan and Sandra. Steve’s greatest joy was his family, and he delighted in being a husband and father.

Steve was an avid sports fan, cheering faithfully for the New York Giants, New Jersey Devils, and later the Vegas Golden Knights. He also loved traveling—whether setting sail on cruises or relaxing at tropical resorts. In 1999, Steve and Barbara retired to Las Vegas, where they built a new chapter of life together and celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 2025.

Steve is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Susan and Sandra (Chad), brother Donald (Judy), sister-in-law Linda Caffin-Puma (Nick), nephew Matt (Jen), and niece Karen Durigan (Gene), as well as several great nieces and a great nephew. Steve will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and devotion to those he loved.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Home in Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, in gratitude for their compassionate care.
