Alma Jean Willams, a resident at Baysmont House of Asbury Place at Kingsport, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026. A native of Surgoinsville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Avaneal Williams. Alma received her bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University, and she was a long-time librarian in the Bristol City School System.
Alma attended First Baptist Church in Surgoinsville where she spent many years playing the organ and teaching Sunday school.
Alma is survived by a special cousin, John Williams and his wife, Sarah, of Surgoinsville.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Surgoinsville Methodist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Larry Munsey officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 pm. The cemetery is located at 610 Old Stage Road, Surgoinsville, TN.
