Leo Joe Gallegos, 89, of Windsor, Colorado, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026. He was born on March 15, 1936, in Capulin, Colorado.

Leo was a devoted husband to his wife, Dorothy (Avila), and a loving father to his children: Jim Gallegos (Pat), Eric Gallegos (Mary Jane), Delores Ruzicka (Dwane), and Judy Gallegos.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Leo proudly served in the United States Army before spending more than 40 years working as a farmer. His work ethic was matched only by his deep commitment to his family. No matter how long the days were, he always made time for the people and the passions that mattered most to him.

Though he never sought the spotlight, Leo’s quiet strength, gentle kindness, and generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He lived his life with humility and love, offering steady guidance and a warm presence that his family will forever cherish.

Leo found joy in the simple things that reflected who he was at heart. He loved fishing, camping, tending to his yard, reading his Bible, and tackling projects as the family’s self‑appointed “Mr. Fixit.” These hobbies weren’t just pastimes, they were moments he shared with his children, creating memories and lessons that will never fade.

Leo is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children Jim Gallegos, Eric Gallegos, Delores Ruzicka, and Judy Gallegos; his grandchildren Tammy Moir, Laura Lozano, Melissa Gallegos, Sarah Treto, and Michele Gallegos; and nine great‑grandchildren. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Services will be held on January 22, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 W. 12th St., Loveland, CO 80537.

Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, 32815 CO Hwy 257, Windsor, CO 80550.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, a cause close to Leo’s heart.
