Milagros Fruel Antang was born on June 6, 1928, in Baao, Camarines Sur, Philippines.

Our loving mother passed away peacefully in her home on December 28, 2025, at the age of 97.

Milagros was married to Alfeo del Socorro Antang on January 28, 1945 in the Philippines during World War II.  Alfeo bravely served as a guerrilla war fighter (aka Philippine Scouts) in the Philippines.  When the young couple finally migrated to the U.S., they adopted Norma—Alfeo’s niece—so she could receive medical treatment.

As a young mother and an immigrant from the Philippines without a high school diploma, Milagros was deeply determined to support her family.  Milagros secured steady employment as a waitress, working for more than 20 years at the well-known Zepeda’s Restaurant.

Milagros was known for her trademark spunk, her infectious smile with dimples, and her love of dancing with her late husband. She will forever remain a bright, guiding light to her family and all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Norma Susbilla and her granddaughter Tania Susbilla.

She is survived by her children: Mildred Phongprateep; Cynthia Antang-Plotkin (husband David); Thomas Antang (partner Ray Pulver); Angelina Antang; and Lourdes Velez (husband Carlos Velez, Sr.).

Her surviving grandchildren are:  Niomi Mendoza; Lailani Madruga (husband Joe Madruga); Nicole Ritthaler (husband Kent Ritthaler); Kevin Phongprateep; Devon Scheer; Carlos Velez, Jr.; Kimberly Manalang (husband Jason Manalang); Ricardo Velez; and Alexandria Velez (husband Diego Pena);

Her surviving great-grandchildren include Adrian Ritthaler; Hudson Ritthaler; Serenna Mandara (spouse Nicole Mandara); Pablo Mendoza (spouse Patty Mendoza); Alisia Mendoza (partner Karla Roman); Cecilia Mendoza (partner Thomas Ponce); Frankie Mendoza (spouse Brenda Love); Kailani Madruga-Brody (husband Nick Brody); Kristin Madruga (partner Jesus Garcia); Roman Madruga (partner Summer Le); and Logan Manalang.

Her surviving great, great grandchildren are: Jaekob Mendoza; Audrina Mendoza; Emma Mendoza; Vincent Mendez; Marcelo Mendoza; Alana Mendoza; Delilah Mendoza; and Noah Mendoza.

Mission Mortuary - Seaside

Centrally located on the Monterey Peninsula, Mission Mortuary has been the premier funeral home choice for Monterey and the entire peninsula for decades. Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946, first on Munras Avenue in Monterey and to our current location on Camino El Estero, walking distance to the Pacific Ocean and area cemeteries, in 1952. Despite our long history, we have evolved to meet the changing needs of our families. Our facility includes spaces both large and small. Whether a handful of friends and family or a large crowd, we can accommodate all. As a reflection of our commitment to our diverse region, we offer multicultural funerals....
