Charyl L. Lane, 81, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026. She was born on February 2, 1944, in Canton, Illinois, to Howard Wesley and Mary Ellen Pollitt Bump.
Charyl was a devoted homemaker and a compassionate certified nurse’s assistant for 30 years, retiring in 1990. Following her retirement, she moved to Florida from Havana, Illinois, with her parents to help care for her beloved father, Howard. She enjoyed the hobby of Antique Collecting. She was an active member of A.A.R.P. Chapter 1573 in Haines City for 10 years and previously belonged to the Eastern Star of Chandlerville, Illinois, in 2008. Through her son Bryan’s genealogical research, Charyl was found to be a proud Mayflower descendant of passengers Edward Fuller, Richard Warren, and Isaac Allerton, as well as a descendant of Robert Cushman, who, while not a Mayflower passenger, served as Chief Agent for the Plymouth Pilgrims.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Bump; her husband, Harold Dean Lane; and her daughter, Helen Michelle Raker. Charyl leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Bryan W. (Marie Elena) Lane of Indian Land, SC, and Allan L. Lane of Louisville, KY; son-in-law, Damon Raker of Moline, IL; grandchildren, Patrick (Megan) Lane of Houston, TX, and Sarah (Erik) Sandmore (née Raker) of Colorado Springs, CO; and great-grandchildren, Freya Lane of Houston, TX, and Rowan Sandmore of Colorado Springs, CO. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Rolling Hills Cemetery in Winter Haven, Florida.
