On Friday, January 16, 2026, Joanne (Wimmer, Nilsson, Johnson, Jensen) left this earthly world peacefully in her sleep into God's hands.
Her light, evident in the love she shared and the memories we hold, will forever illuminate our paths. Her gentle smile and generous heart brightened our days, and she kindled every gathering with kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love. Joanne brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of belonging to every family member and friend. Her passions were many, including cooking, baking, crocheting, playing the piano and accordion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her luminous spirit, and her glow remains in the stories we tell and the love we continue to pass down.
Preceded in death by husbands James Nilsson, LeRoy Johnson, and Wayne Jensen; son Daniel Nilsson, daughter-in-law Cheryl Nilsson; grandchildren Hope Crowther and Gunnar Nilsson.
Survived by her children: John Nilsson, Joe Nilsson (Danea), Jean Nilsson, Dianne Lee, Roy Johnson (Sherry); 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; special cousin DeLoris Mammenga; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joanne is remembered as a devoted mom, grandma, and friend; the strongest woman we knew.
Visitation will be held from 4PM- 7PM Thursday, 1/29/26 at Sandberg Funeral Home in North Saint Paul and Funeral Mass held at 11AM Friday, 1/30/26 at St. Mary by the Lake, 4741 Bald Eagle Ave., White Bear Lake, MN.
