It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Enrique Antonio Rodriguez Reyes on January 18, 2026. He was born on March 22, 1938, in Pimentel, Chiclayo, Peru, to Enrique Victoriano Rodriguez Acevedo and Rosario Reyes Zeña. Enrique will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His life was marked by deep devotion to God and family, as well as his compassion, generosity, and affectionate love. He was known for his lively sense of humor, his appreciation for music, fine food and drink, and his habit of sending encouraging Facebook messages to friends and family. He could often be found sitting on the porch listening to his favorite songs or watching fútbol while cheering on his favorite player, Lionel Messi. Above all, Enrique loved being surrounded by family and friends and cherished time spent sharing good meals and conversation.

In the 1960s and 1970s, he worked in television in Argentina, a chapter of his life he spoke about with genuine pride. He was part of a generation that helped shape the early evolution of televised media, during a time when everything felt new and creative. He treasured the opportunity to work with and meet many renowned artists, memories that stayed close to him long after those years had passed. He then worked in T.V. journalism in Lima, Peru during the 1980s and 1990’s. He remained in Lima where was married and started a family with Olga Raquel Fhon Antón and fathered his two children, Enrique Antonio Rodriguez Fhon and Mauricio Raul Rodriguez Fhon.

Enrique and his family would immigrate to the U.S.A. in the early 2000s and settle in Largo, Florida where he would spend the rest of his life. It was in Largo where he would watch his children grow up and become professionals, where he regularly attended church, and where he would find a community of friends that he would consider an extension of his family.

Enrique lived life to the fullest and celebrated many meaningful milestones. He returned to Peru to reunite with old friends, traveled throughout the United States, and visited many other countries and destinations around the world. He became an American citizen, voted in his first election, and proudly used his U.S. passport to visit Canada.

A devoted sports fan, Enrique watched his favorite football team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, win two Super Bowls, saw Argentina win the World Cup, and had the joy of watching his favorite soccer player, Lionel Messi, play in his home state and win the MLS Cup.

Enrique took immense pride in his children, watching one become a physician and the other serve in the United States Navy. He was also blessed to become a grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his beloved granddaughter. A man of deep faith, Enrique prayed every night and lovingly said “Que Dios te bendiga” to his family and friends whenever he could.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1955 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater, FL 33764.
