Sharon Mae Carson, 86, a longtime resident of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully at her home in Cambridge, Idaho, surrounded by her family on January 14, 2026.

Sharon was born on March 26, 1939, in Ontario, Oregon, the second child of James J. and Lucile Russell Williams. She grew up in Ontario, Nyssa, and Homedale, where she built lifelong friendships and cherished memories. Sharon graduated from Homedale High School in 1957.

On August 25, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, William D. Carson, beginning a loving marriage that spanned 69 years. 

During their marriage, Bill and Sharon welcomed four children: Cameron, Drake, Marilyn, and Marlon. Sharon took great pride in her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and Bill were the proud grandparents of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Sharon was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 12, 1971. In 1972, Bill and Sharon were sealed with their children in the Idaho Falls Temple. One year after her baptism, Sharon was called to serve as ward Relief Society president. She was completely committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ and continued to serve faithfully in many callings throughout her life, including Stake Relief Society president. Sharon worked with the church’s Young Women’s groups, and even completed a 5-day, 50 mile hike in the Sawtooth Wilderness with the mutual youth group in the late 70’s, as well as being part of church stage productions called “Road Show’s”.  She loved being part of young people’s lives, and was enthusiastic in her support of these programs. 

Sharon wore many hats, including working for the Idaho Department of Transportation, and as an office receptionist/surgical assistant for a plastic surgeon. She had an entrepreneurial spirit. With her longtime friend Barbara, together they started an in-home daycare and later a home cleaning business. 

Sharon enjoyed riding snowmobiles and motorcycles, hiking, and huckleberry picking with her grandkids. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking, and was especially known for making the most beautiful—and delicious—pies. She was always willing to share her homemaking skills with anyone who asked. 

Sharon loved hosting friends and family at her home in Boise and the family cabin at Silver Creek Plunge. In the fall of 2015 Bill and Sharon relocated to Cambridge, Idaho to be near their daughter and enjoy the fresh air and small-town life. 

Sharon was diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis in 2003 and valiantly battled the debilitating disease for more than 22 years. In her later years, she found it difficult to speak at times, and had decreased mobility.  Yet throughout her journey, she remained steadfast in her deep faith and unwavering kindness of spirit. Sharon was an inspiration of courage to all who knew her. She devoted much of her time to reading and studying a wide range of perspectives on life, spirituality, and education. Her smile always lit up the room. We love, and miss you already mom! 

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents James and Lucile Williams, stepmother Amy Straube Williams, a stepbrother Gary Straube, a sister Barbara Williams, her son Cameron, and her great grandson Zeniff Cox. 

Sharon is survived by her husband Bill, Daughter-in-law Pamela, son Drake (Judy), daughter Marilyn (Mark), son Marlon (Kristi), 19 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren, and her brother Jim Williams. 

Sharon will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her gentle spirit, and the lasting legacy of love she leaves behind.

Funeral services are being conducted by Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser, ID. 

Sharon’s Memorial and Burial will be held Saturday, January 24th, starting with a 9:00 am viewing and 10:00 am Memorial Service, both held at the Cambridge LDS Chapel, 35 S. 2nd Street, Cambridge, ID.  Following the service, a processional will commence with gravesite interment at the Marsing-Homedale Cemetery, 4410 Cemetery Rd, Marsing, ID.
