Ila “Jeanne” Taylor Blackner Gearhart, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 8, 2026. Born on September 14, 1933, to Louis Ervin Taylor and Leona Lillian Scott Taylor of Holladay, Utah. She had many talents, gentle spirit, and a compassionate heart. Jeanne touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and played the piano and organ for over 50 years for many event, including Sacrament Meetings, weddings, and funerals. She was very creative and enjoyed sewing, crafts, tole painting, portrait painting, needle work, hand knitting and her knitting machine. Jeanne worked as a secretary for the Ontario Clinic and the Hospital.
Jeanne married Frank Blackner on June 1, 1951; solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and together they had 4 children. Herb Blackner, Vicki Wilson, Larry Blackner, and LaMar Blackner. She later married Lamoine Gearhart and welcomed his children as her own. She treasured time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and made each feel special and loved. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones. Jeanne’s legacy lives on through the cherished memories she created and the love she shared with family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives she graced.
She is survived by her brother Don Taylor, daughter Vicki Wilson, son LaMar Blackner, granddaughter Shannon (Jerry) Wolery and grandson Shane (Elaina) Wilson, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marilyn Taylor, brother Ross Taylor, sons Herb and Larry, son-in-law Jack Wilson, and husband, Frank.
A private family graveside was held for her internment at the Parkview Cemetery in New Plymouth, ID. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 7th at 2:00pm, at the LDS Stake Center at 1705 NW 4th Ave., in Ontario, OR.
